As the 3rd Week Ends, A New Floor is Upon Us...

Wow, just when you want the sun to shine it rains for a few weeks!
However it must end one day soon, as the loo pit is only half finished and I want it done before winter sets in.

Today, the rain actually eased off, the sun came and went, but no rain, so we pulled out 2 of the front gate posts and were amazed that one was just sitting in the dirt...only about 2-3 inches in the soil...
We laughed and were stunned that it didn't fall over with the heavy gates on it.

Look at the kids on the bikes getting an apprentice-ship in hinge placement!

The other one that the Canadian kids and I made a temporary repair job on this time last year was still in place and we just couldn't budge the concrete off the bottom of it when we pulled it out. As we were re-using the longer post to replace the shorter post, we had to end up digging a bigger hole and bury the post, old concrete and all. Hahaha...not one tiny bit of it would crack off!

You can see the fence posts here...hardly any bottom on the little one and about 6 inches on this front one, including all that concrete!

It was raining outside, so we started working inside on Saturday! All this furniture comes out in the morning...

Yesterday we cleaned up 100 years of old plaster and paint from the beams in the bedroom/bathroom in readiness for pulling up the floor in the next few days.

Let the fun begin!

Rubbed the beams right back to the bare wood...., but will re-do them the traditional way.

The dust and flakes mounted up on the floor really fast.

This bucket is full of old paint dust and flakes from just 6 beams...amazing.

Sunday now, rain stopped...Getting the gate hinges off...

Gate comes off...That post near the green drill is just sitting on the dirt...we couldn't believe it.

2 gates off and one to go!

...and the sun shone thru'...

Now it's time to put the hinges on in the right places...

Time to cut the new posts...

That's all we did the last few days...
Tomorrow, out comes the shower and it's time I get back to bathing in my bird bath...pics coming on that one...hahaha...
