Getting Down and Dirty...

Here we go again...at last starting the cottage roof.

But first there have been some funny days here in Hungary...

There have been holidays galore since I've been back
  • Went to renew my resident visa last week...and the place was closed...Public Holiday...and I had to write another letter of excuse for being late!
  • Then my wifi broke...went to town, on 2 sep. days, only to find it was a 4 day holiday...
Goodness me, they really love and support their holy days here.

Anyways, all is good... HahahahahahahahahahahahaHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahahha...Who says God doesn't have a sense of humour??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAA...Too funny...

Everyone knows I love elections, especially watching the prognosticators get it so wrong, calling the winner after 2 votes are counted! ...

Well, long story short, I was praying the other day and asked God to give me strength to get all the work done for the Cottage opening next year, as Dirk had died and it is hard to find another person to replace him.

Next thing, I dropped and broke my wifi thingy...I was besides myself, as the mid term elections would be over before I could get my wifi fixed and my big day of the year is to watch election counts take place. more so with this coming US one!

I accepted the fact, after going to Town on Thursday and again on Friday, to get it fixed, only to find the shops all shut again. It turned out to be a 4 day holiday here for the next 4 days!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...

Ho-hum...so, I figured I'd work in the garden all day, every day, until Monday and do some of the work I was praying about to God to help me with. So, be very careful when you pray and ask for help!!!

Hahahahahahahahahahah...Still laughing!

BUT, after a day of being cut off from the world...and using up all the data on my new swanky phone...I thought I'd try the wifi thingy again. I pressed the 2 buttons, pulled it apart, replaced the battery umpteen times, then held one of the buttons down for a verrrry long time...and it worked!!!

Lesson learned. Just do it, don't always ask for strength, you already have. It's the will to do it, more than the strength!!!

Here are the pics taken since I came back.

Autumn trees at the end of my street...
Yummy breakfast from the garden...
Sunrise from my bedroom window...
All this garden is to be removed and cleaned up...Plus the paths moved too!!!
Bought this at a 50% sale in OZ...
Autumn colours outside the bus window...

More from the bus windows...
On my way to the hardware shop...
Setting out the room for the mezzanine...
How high do you need the window, Mary? I think this is what Imre was saying!!!
Looking good...
The last big pick of my lovely roses...
OOPS....out of order!
The lovely brick seat I built...all by myself! It will clean up OK soon...
The top of the seat has a garden space...
The side steps on the big deck, almost done.
Left side of the cottage...retaining walls on big deck made of old concrete rubble and old rafters from the summer kitchen...

Loving the Autumn leaves on the paths...
The brightly coloured shop very close to my place...which is on the left, out of the picture, but opposite the people walking on the road...as you do over here!
Dug out the cactus and planted a lot of pansies...
Andrea's sister has come and collected her car, thankfully. Now we'll pull the carport down and use the roof timbers on the big deck, in the paddock and the sheeting on the under roof on the cottage...
A very friendly cat has adopted me! She eats here for breakfast and evening meals, goes to many other neighbours for treats too. she sleeps in the blanket here...
Getting the angles cut on the trusses...
Butting the joins...
Setting up the Trusses...
Up goes the first one...they drag it to the other end...
Done...
Don't know what the white foggy stuff is on the floor the guys are standing on...
The last few roses...
Lesson learned...too much sun on the subject matter...
Early morning sunrise...
Off to Debrecen to apply for renewal of my resident visa...Still makes me wondrous as we jump on the train in the middle of the train tracks...
Almost done with the 5th truss...
Along comes number 6 truss...
Getting ready to peg out the paddock for the hay bale gardens...Right where I'm standing.
The apple tree stays, but the white mulberry will go once the new driveway is put in next year or later on...
The hay garden and 4 grape vines are going in this section...virtually along the back of this house...
Still plenty of room left after the new hay garden goes in...Planted  a dozen fruit trees in the past 2 days, in the area you can see and 4 grape vines  just behind me...Took the pics before planting them.
Will leave these 4 plum trees here for the time being.
All done and dusted! Next they brick up the 2 end gables.
Autumn Sunset in Hungary...
Now they set out the batten placements...
Can hardly wait...
It looks a lot bigger than I imagined ...
Sun setting on a good days work. It is coming up 4pm soon! we had clocks back last weekend.
The guy who helps Imre (now we don't have Dirk,) helped me for 2 hours on Friday to put in the final 6 trees and 4 grape vines...

Have been working on the big deck gardens which are looking good too...
Planted the big cactus...which brought forth 10 new plants. hope they survive!
Next come the sorting out of the expanse of steps up to the big deck...I imagine the white arch, covered in foliage, with a bride in white, descending these steps, one day soon...
The right side of the big deck gardens being reset, evened up and the edgings adjusted to be even with the other side...mostly!
Off to town to get my wifi fixed...only to discover that this day and the following day, that Thurs and Friday were public holidays!
But the lovely walk was worth it!
Pulling the end of the retaining wall apart to complete it. No cement has been used in the 2 brick seats or this retaining wall...yet! I may get Imre to seal the top layer of concrete rubble with cement, to stop it moving??? Not sure yet...

Still have the top layer of rocks to set straight, then adjust the lot again so it all matches...
Taking out one of the steps and making the existing steps wider/longer and a tad sloping. It walks better after testing. Still have to work out how to do the edges, under the timber placers...oops, one fell over!
On Sunday my task is to clean up this deck top...
And to clean out the next bit of the tomatoes...Will leave one bit of toms as they are now producing again, after coming back!
Moving all these rocks...
Where the 4 rocks are standing up, is where the pavilion is going.
OK...time to finish this blog and get on with the rocking bit of the day!
Thisis my toothless garden edging...All the current edging is coming out to where the 3 bricks are and the fence is coming forwards too. giving me a more suitable private space from visitors.

The Peter gates get moved towards the right end, 2 metres and the entire house fence comes out to straighten things up at the same time, making a better front, privacy yard.
Well, that's it for now...am off to shift some rocks and complete the steps etc.

See you next week,
Cheers and stay well and safe,

Pray for truth to be revealed,

Love to all,
M
