A big week here with beautiful weather to boot, making it a great environment to get work done outside before the winter sets in!
My hay bales arrived on Friday afternoon and I got a bit of a shock when I thought I could just roll them into a line and roll them out...easy - peasy!
Not so Mary... Each one must weigh a ton...at least!
Sooo, I had to pull layers upon layers of straw out of the round bales and take them to the place I had to fill up with straw in the paddock.
Itchy-scratchy had nothing on me by the end of the day...hahaha.

A bit of work ahead! |
Some fun days ahead by the looks of things... |
Number one up and on its way... |
Entry through the Peter Gates... |
Really quick delivery. No mucking around with these tools!
Next 2 on their way... |
Bales in place...ready for spreading to make the straw, no dig beds.3 pm and it is sun setting time almost! |
Next day, bright and early...well, 10 am actually! Let's get it started... |
The spreading has begun! It took me 2 hours to do this bit...an arm full at a time, take it to the corner and work back. Gradually getting it spread. It is supposed to end up about a foot deep...ish. |
In the mean time, after lunch, I painted the windows and architrave for the cottage gables... |
Finally got the big deck steps completed and the top of the deck all cleaned up. Not sure what to put on them yet. White stones, sandstone crazy paving, grass or fake grass... |
Been pulling the layers off for hours and seemingly getting not much done!!! |
I think it will come together well and look good next spring... |
A local house for sale. Presentation isn't a priority here! |
Went to Debrecen on Thursday to take an extra document I forgot last week, for my resident permit renewal. |
A funny thing happened on the way home...Coming up to 4pm...Yup, I was chatting away to these kids I'd met last week on the train again and overshot my stop at Tiszafured! Hahaha, had to wait an hour for the next train...Ho hum...and I thought I'd have an early homecoming! |
Cleaning the moss from the roof tiles so we can use them again... |
Still a lot to get done yet. I'm going to have to get cracking on these too this week... |
Election night...champers, chockies, chippies...great night...and early morning! |
OK...time to go as this thing has crashed 5 times doing this blog tonight, so I'm quitting while I'm ahead. |
All the best...
Cheers,
Stay well, be safe,
Love to all,
M
