The past year went quickly, that is for sure!
Have you all written out your New Year resolutions yet???
We all know that while we wish we could do, be or achieve the dreams hoped for...somehow, we also know we will probably fail on 95% of our hopes and resolutions.
Why is that?
Do we really not want to have the results we hoped for...
Or do we just write down things that seem like fun things to be, to do, to have, but have no intention of paying the required price to achieve them?
Or is it that we really have no idea that they require a price?
Or, perhaps, we don't realize or know how to pay that price?
Regardless of the questions we ask ourselves...or don't ask ourselves, in the end, there is only one simple reason we don't achieve those resolutions the majority of the time.
We don't believe we can...
or...
We are afraid we'll fail...
or...
We don't believe we are worth them...
or...
We are afraid of the unknown, and not go after them...
or...
We are too comfortable, to lazy, to put the effort in to pursue them...
or...
We don't really want them!
Meaning, if we really wanted to lose weight, for instance, we'd start looking at videos of healthy eating, healthy lifestyle, check out a home training program, clean out out pantry of rubbish "food", see our health professional for a check up, find out our ideal weight range number and ask them for moral support and so on.
With all that being said..let's move on to finish off a very fast moving, well traveled year, with a lovely trip through the beautiful Christmas lights and Markets in Belgrade, Serbia.
On our trip to the dentist, at 7pm 5th Dec 2018...hahaha...Too funny, but true. Serbia holds Christmas on 6-7th Jan!!! |
Every Saturday afternoon, outside of Hotel Moscow, people come to trade footy cards! A constant change of people, but some people are there for hours...Amazing. |
I like the idea. I wonder how it looks at night! |
A big dump of snow a few days ago, kept everyone inside here today... |
Crowds leaving the footy card exchange! |
Gonna look great to-nite! |
Belgrade is a top fashion centre for sure... |
Great shopping here... |
Luvvv the shoes... |
who could imagine...the dead of winter and they wear these frocks??? Many poshy parties here... |
Glitzy boots and shoes... |
And yet more to gape at!!! |
Entry to the big light show here in this street...Later to-night |
Many people out and about, even in the light rain! |
This is what they came to see! |
You'll always get one!...a girl in a mini skirt in the winter!!! |
But the buildings look great regardless! |
Beautiful... |
Hard to get a pic, due to people getting and taking pics! |
Another nicely lit up decoration...It' a bauble, with you in it... |
A jewellery store had a very different idea of decoration! |
It wouldn't get dark quickly enough this day! hahaha... |
...so, off to look at more shoes! |
Different... |
They are renovating the entire square... |
The newly cleaned museum...taken through the fencing...to keep people out... |
A huge square and they hold many parades etc here ... |
Barriers work to keep people out... |
These hand knitted coats are beautiful...Loved the white one. All about 100 Euros...not too bad...but they are woolen, which could be a problem with longevity...The grey one sold as I took the photos. |
All hand knitted... |
Beautiful creativity and craftsmanship... |
Looking for food now... |
Hahaha...can't get away from shoes...even if filled with honey and wine! |
Cheese from local farmers... |
Closed!!! |
Open for coffee...I don't do "coffee" when out...only have my one cup in the morning. I prefer bubbly, but most places only serve red or white wine, which I don't really like, therefore home I go... |
Only an add for this one!!! Not on the winter menu... |
Nice... |
Belgrade fashion... |
Belgrade ... |
Out the window on the way to the dentist ... |
Too bumpy in the bus...but it was a beautiful moment in real life... |
Back in the main centre...the lights are on! |
Jelana and I on our Christmas lights tour! |
It does look great...hey! |
The tree does too... |
Unusual tunnel of light! |
Fooling around in the amazing light maze... |
saucy wench! |
Found a nice Mexican type restaurant...Jelana had red sangria and the lack of bubbly on offer, caused me to settle for pear cider, both loaded with ice! |
we had awesome tomato soup with avocado, cheese and fried tortilla strips on my Christmas eve...yummo! |
Not a sticker on these apples, but grown with a sticker on them and ripened just right, before the sticker is removed. Clever huh?!!! |
They suited me...I don't know why I didn't get them...Only 10 dollars. That's my foot in the shoe too... |
Idea for Imre... to protect my 2 remaining wagon wheels... |
Nice tiled floor pattern... |
A real doggie in the window! |
Beautiful baby clothes here too... |
Check out the sign...dohhh... |
Beautifully lit up at night... |
Checking the menu at our fave place...The Astoria hotel in Belgrade... |
Yummy meal...I had smoked salmon and salad and Jelana had steak and potato with capers and jalapeno salad...About $7.00 each...ih |
Had to run up the street and catch the musician gypsies... |
Perfect...finally got one! |
The lights were in the pattern of various types of local lace... wonderful... |
Heading up to look at my castle before catching the train home at 9.10 pm tonight. |
Racing to get there before it gets dark...sun setting fast. |
Quick...quick...it got dark so quickly... |
100 metres from it ... |
New Belgrade over the Sava river...at sunset on 26th Dec, 2018 |
Big red sun ball setting... |
EEEEK! My castle has been demolished! |
sadly, I head back through the fortress park grounds and multiple chess tables... |
I like this pic... |
In the cab on the way to the new railway station...miles out of town! I used to go to the Astoria, have a meal, then walk 50 metres to the train station! Not happy Jan! |
Ne...huggge rail station platform, one of about 20 platforms....but same old train on the outside. It is nice inside though. I think they keep it like this for tourist reasons! |
That was Belgrade at Christmas for me this year.
I had a great time, without my family though...
Goodness only knows where Christmas 2019 will be!
wishing a great new year ahead for everyone,
stay well, be healthy, laugh and love a lot,
Hopefully my computer and keyboard problems will be in tippy-top order by the middle of January, now everyone is finally back at work here.
Cheers,
Mary
