Week 6...4th Nov -11th November 2015

Wow, I never experienced anything like this weather...

The absolute extremes from boiling hot at 40C a few months ago to minus 5 overnight a few days ago.
It's really strange but when I'm out jogging in the mornings or go visit the loo fairy at night, I don't get cold.
I can feel it isn't 40C for sure, but it's weird how calm and nice all around zero is.

It feels still, but I guess because there has been no winds yet, it is pleasant being at zero or around that.

I don't need to have the fire going all night yet and let it die down when I go to bed around 10.30pm.
I light it usually, depending on my day, around lunch time. Not because it is cold inside, it's more for the company of hearing it crackle and see it glow and flicker, especially if the guys aren't working here.

Loving it!

Sabina had a few pumpkins the boys cut out for Halloween...
What a waste of perfectly good pumpkins I say!...especially the Qld Blue 2nd from right...
Just beautiful at this time of year over here...
Started my car looking search...Sedan or wagon or one of those combo ones?
Yeah, well...It's a Toyota car and it costs just on $5,000 Ausd... That's about all I can see! Hahaha...
Just had a load of wood dropped off by the neighbour who you saw in the pic up at Szolnok.
He was to come back next day to chop and saw it, but it's been foggy every day since...almost a week!

I bought some more of these awesome chrysanthemums to keep Oskar's ones company. Will take cuttings now and grow heaps of them for next year.
It's been exactly 2 weeks since Zoltan has been working away in Budapest, so I'm hoping this coming week, we'll get him back and tidy up the remaining jobs here.

  • The back fence needs to be concreted under and fence re-erected...
  • End room floors and walls finished with the waterproofing treatment they do over here
  • Bathroom floor cemented and kitchen pipes under-laid
  • Bathroom reinstated
  • Inside loo connected and working
  • New doorway patched and rendered to completion for wood trims to be added later on
  • Septic tank completed
  • Finally the last bit of trenching to be done from bathroom to septic pit.

That should take 2 guys just one week to complete, so here's hoping I get him back ASAP.

It's Sunday as I write this and guess what?
Zoltan has arrived...and early too.
2 hours later...nearly finished!
The lightest fog we've had all week. It stays like this all day. It's 1pm Sunday here!
Measuring up for the top cement lid, which will be about 9 inches thick!
Zoltan's wife, Terry, brought me over some lunch! I gave her some paprika peppers in my white bowl and she returned it full of pork schnitzel, something brown and potato with parsley! Not a bad trade hey?
The support for the top goes on...this timber was part of the old floor in the bathroom.
This hole is the access trap for the guys to come and pump out the pit when necessary.
Getting ready for the first barrow of concrete! You can see the end of the summer kitchen here...a bit of work needed there! This is where I'm thinking to put the garage, hence the thicker concrete on the top of the pit...
First shovel full of concrete! Getting closer now...
Some may wonder why I add so much detail in my blogs...

Well, my children love to see what I'm up to on this exciting adventure over here and as soon as the inside comfortables, (as they are called over here) are finished, they'll probably come visit! hahaha...

My sister really enjoys watching it all come together too...plus a few other people pop in now and then to catch up and see how life actually happens in a tiny Northern Hungarian village in 2015.

OK, that's it for this week just gone...
Cheers,
M
xx
