A lot has happened and it is all good.
Bear has gone to a great home in Germany, but I have ended up with a friend's rescue dog...don't ask me how!

Pedro and me at the Tisza river, before the Lake... |
We have been scooting all over the place of late too, over Xmas and New Year, in the beautiful 7C
and above, glorious weather...just like early spring!
Yesterday we visited the Tisza River and Lakes area and took dog for a looong walk and we all slept very well last night!
Today we visited a couple of towns/cities...don't ask me the ridiculous names of them, but they are beautiful!
Spectacular! |
The entire area here seemed to be a central place for all things bureaucratic! |
Yet another beautifully cared for building... |
The lovely, clean town Square... |
Yeah, well said! |
So we found a nice quiet corner and drank that coffee and had a nice chat... |
...Before heading home... |
Work is still progressing on the renos, slowed right down to lots of odd necessary jobs with just one day a week with one man, but all the fiddly jobs add up.
Have sanded and applied undercoat and a 2nd coat of paint to all the remaining 8 older windows I was given for the Cottage, and they are coming up as well as can be expected, along with the 2 doors for the cottage.
6 of the windows will go in the front of the cottage, 4 in the kitchen and 2 used as a mock window to even up the look on the front...and the other 2 ???, they will be ready to top coat, wherever or when ever they are used!
Imre has just come back after a 2 week Xmas break at home with his family, so things will speed up a bit now, as he starts again on Wednesday for 2 days a week.
He'll complete the walls inside the cottage if the weather remains above zero, and then start a few jobs over at the main house, on sanding back the attic door outside and then doing his magic on the crumbly wall around it, which everyone keeps forgetting about!
Then he'll complete the rest of the power switches and light fittings inside here and finally attack the cellar fold up floor/door/hand rail/safety rail!
We have to design it as we go as I have never seen one, but I'd guess there must be many around the place.
Never the less, we'll work it out so it becomes a flat floor for day to day use, under a mat and when we need to party in the cellar room, well raise the floor in 2 sections which will fold back to become safety walls around the gaping hole leading downstairs to the unknown below!
Xmas was beautiful...3 glorious days...24C on the verandah, in the sun on Xmas day, can you believe it???
Next day was 14 C on the verandah, but a cool wind kept it a bit fresh, even in full sun.
This past week has been 7-9C in the days and 4-5C at night...perfect weather for me, sent from above, for which I am very grateful!
I intensely dislike the grey, foggy, soggy days of no sun and am glad we have only had a few of them this winter. Out jogging I've only seen 3 mornings with iced over puddles, apart from the few weeks of snow, early on in winter. It really has been lovely.
A few pics older pics here now as I'll keep my pics updated now I have good internet again.
Got myself a wifi hotspot set up thingy and it works great so far.
It is on a month's test to see if it works inside these 2 foot thick walls, instead of being set in the window and so far the wifi seems to work well.
Just a recap as I can't remember where I was up to! |
Finally, the last robe underway! |
A light for the kitchen...wheee! Next will be real kitchen benches... |
A light for the new room, the entry! Awesome. It feels like a real house now and will look great once we get rid of all the work tools again! |
2 lights in the end room! |
Meanwhile...in the dining room it's back to candles!!! |
Imre taking the back off a big couch thing to make it into a spare real bed! It is so comfy too, so I decided to keep this one and tart it up a bit |
Just on Xmas...it snowed for the night and magically melted the next day! |
Out for a pre- Xmas meal |
The sun streaming in the new window we put in the kitchen. It will look awesome, once the glass is repaired , completed and cleaned!!! |
Outside for a perfect dawning on Xmas Day, Hungary 2017! |
Sun sets on another perfect day in Winter Paradise... |
A lovely Hungarian friend...popping the cork for Xmas! |
This was NOT Xmas dinner, but a test run to see if the oven in the wood stove would cook OK. It did. |
The inside under walls application almost completed before the application of the reeds and Imre's baby bottom goop finishes. |
Everyone seems to taking great advantage of the lovely weather here too, and are out and about while they can!
All the best for a fabulous Year and may you reach out and grab hold of some of all the good that is coming to us this year.
Cheers and God Bless,
Mary
