Back Home Again...

Wow, will never do that again!

That is...not in this type of weather anyways.

I left Australia because I couldn't breathe in the heat and humidity and now it follows me!

Low blood pressure is a nuisance in the heat as the blood goes to the skin to cool and consequently leaves other organs depleted causing nausea and faintness.

So will have to be more alert to the summers here now I know how hot they really get and muggy too...which I never expected.

Hahaha...
Oh well...

Will just have to manage my calendar better from now onwards.

You can tell how hot it is...everyone is shiny! Had the traditional glass of bubbly to say farewell...Damir, in the yellow shirt, owns the hostel in Belgrade and Zorana, the amazing receptionist is in the salmon coloured frock and the other girl is a friend of both.
A lot different to last year at this time in Belgrade, Serbia. The platform was crowded with Syrians...
I left and my tomato plants were up to my waist...6 days away and it's a jungle!
One massive sunflower in bloom...
The roof on the shed is completed as much as they can do for now...The right end is left to join into the new big room I'm doing in late August. Next they render the left end wall as it's exposed mud bricks, then they take out the internal dividing wall, then put in a floor and render roughly the walls inside. The final exterior wall render comes when the other buildings are all ready so they can do them all at once.
So proud...my first and only cherry! I planted this tree in Oct and was very surprised to see the single cherry as the tree only had one flower and I never noticed anything until yesterday! Amazing.
Mowing my living snow, as my sister calls it!
Met an Aussie girl in Budapest when going to Belgrade last week and we hung out for 4 hours, touring around and chatting up the guys...again!
In the New York Cafe again...looking with the Aussie girl...Annette
Thought we'd be smart and see if this worked...it did!
Overload of lights...
Long ways...still too much...
Back up to the lovely ceilings...
Such detail and it is only a few years old too...
This is a reflection in a mirror topped table...pretty mind blowing if you've had a few and are trying to eat...
That's the big long mirror table there...
Out the train window...I forget if it was morning or evening!!! Between Budapest and Belgrade.
Anyways...the trip was good down and back to Belgrade, the dentist did her work and we have a plan to do some cosmetic things now...vanity oh vanity!

It's great to be home and in my nice cool house.

Will be going to Australia in about 2 weeks time now, as I have a couple of Aussie volunteer girls coming on Thursday for a month. They only booked in yesterday too!(Mon).

It will be a good time to leave as they can look after dog and mow and weed the gardens. I'll stay here a week and train them...they are 20 and 23 I think, so they should be OK. They just spent 3 months volunteering in some strange sounding place, so they should be used to it now.

I couldn't go earlier as the volunteer family had the little girl and she got into everything and you had to have eyes in the back of your head with her. So I wasn't game enough to leave her here!

All is good here, have mowed the whole paddock and Klaas had mowed my nature strips outside, so that was lovely.
Cleaned up the yard a bit from the guys working on the shed and tried to tie up those gigantic tomato plants! Boy, they grew about 18 inches in 6 days...amazing!

Transplanted some yellow tomato plants, some chilli and 4 marigolds this morning. Only 4 plants came up...boohooo...
Weeded all the front gardens and tidied up all my note taking books this morning too...a 6 inch pile of them... and feel very proud of myself as I've been trying to do that for 3 or so years!

I ripped pages out by the bag full and sorted the empty books all out as I generally forget to take a note book with me on my travels and end up buying and starting another one...so I ended up with too big a pile.

I draw house plans, think ,via writing notes...(having conversations with myself actually), plan trips away etc...I really could not get by without my note books...and lots of them!

It's 9.30 pm and my garden solar lights have just come on!
Still can't get used to it being so light, so late at night...hahaha...

OK...see you next time, cheers,
M

Belgrade...A Melting Pot...

Literally!
It's been hot.
Very muggy and very hot.
A bit overgrown, but still standing...My little castle! Ran straight up there to see it.
Dogs allowed in cafe's...
Arrived at 7am and headed directly to the hostel, 300 mtrs from the train station...Ahhh...Home Sweet Home...with fresh coffee waiting!
Reception ideas...
All night travel and then meeting my friend for a pic shoot was not a great idea!
Guess what this is...
Nice restaurant for lunch after visiting the dentist and seeing my friend off to work...
Then it poured and stormed all afternoon!
Next day was overcast, but no rain...
Met Jelena for drinkies at the Astoria. on Tuesday night...
Our fave watering hole in Belgrade...
Wednesday morning was sunny, muggy and very hot...This is mineral water from underground spring...for the public to drink.
Never too old to play for fun and cash!
Now read that and pronounce it!
Nearly got run over by the little electric tourist train sneaking up behind me...
WOW, that is big checks in those table cloths!
A lovely man hole cover in Belgrade...
She still stands proud!
On the way back from visiting my castle...
Overcast again and not really clear today.
Looking up the river from my castle in the park.
Great window dressing!
Haven't fared really well this time in the heat...but at least the dentist is underway!

She completes the first round with a crowning at 1300 tomorrow, Fri, then I head home on the 10pm train tomorrow night, all being well, arriving at my place about 10am ish Saturday morning.

She is giving me a plan to get all the work done that I want, so will come back in cooler weather and get the rest completed.
It's only cosmetic really, patching up some irregularities in the surface enamel on my teeth and giving me a whitening treatment I do myself at home over 7 nights.
She makes a special thing you wear in your mouth at night and put some whitening gel in the mouth guard and leave it in all night.
7 days later you have your old colour back, then you just do the treatment once a year or so to maintain the whitening.

OK...that's all for now...
See you soon,
M

Eger...A City of Surprises!

Wont say anything much here as the captions under the pics tell the story.
Eger is 50 Klm from my lace and is easily accessible by frequent daily trains.

Eger is best known fori ts castle, thermal baths, historic buildings (including the northernmost Turkish minaret), dishes and red wines. It has an estimated population of 56,530 as of 2011, which makes it 19th largest city in Hungary. The city is located on the Eger Stream, on the hills of the Bükk Mountains.

These manhole covers are really nice.
Lovely gardens everywhere...
Ooowwwhhh, that is nice balustrading!

From the inside...Looking for something for the big deck...
Neat as a pin...
Such a clean and nice city...
Yes, well!
The Moors influence from hundreds of years ago...Middle Ages: (Moors) For many centuries large portions of Western Europe were under Muslim rule.
Overcast and looking like rain...it did pour down about 4pm.
Party area...
Have to get some of these...
Nice...
Can't wait to go there...
The bar...
Sentry!
Excalibur indeed!
Heading off now across the park and into the square...
So many bull frogs squarking sort of like a kookaburra at the end of its chortling!
Just so lovely...and cool!
Now, what's that?
More balcony balustrading...
Unexpected things pop out from behind trees!
So neat and tidy...
Now, THAT'S a door!
Just pretty in amongst the trees...
It looks like the car is going to drive up the steps of the church!
Can sniff out a  palace a mile away now...
Yummy looking cakes in the palace cafe...
Lots of steps up this hill...
Nice in the distance.
A different angle...
The back of the church...
Beautiful...
An historic Church...
Looked nice against the approaching storm.
Forget what this pretty bldg was/is!
Beautifully polished manhole covers.
OK...that's it for Eger...I completed this blog whilst listening to more thunder rumble from my bed in Belgrade on Monday evening.

So, bye for now,
Cheers,
More Eger in a week or so, but in the meantime I'll post some of lovely Belgrade.
